General:

The generation 997 of the 911 Turbo breaks new records :  480 horsepower, 0-100 in barely 3.9 seconds, 460lb-ft of torque at barely 1950 rpm.  Its motor is the same as that of the GT3 but twin turbos have been added to multiply the power.  While the pure performance lovers will be enamored by the naturally-aspirated (read : non- turbo) engine of the GT3, the Turbo 997 will please the most discerning of the power lovers. Only the GT2, also turbo-compressed will be able to offer greater power with its monstrous 530 horsepower. Also, unlike the GT3 and GT2, the Turbo 997 is offered all-wheel drive in order to maximize traction on the road/track.  The Turbo is offered as a convertible for those who wish to feel the wind in their hair while sitting in an exceptionally powerful vehicle.

From model year 2010, the 911 Turbo develops 500 hp thanks to its 3.8 liter engine.

Exterior:

The Turbo 997 sports lateral intakes specifically designed to cool the engine.  As was the case for earlier 911 Turbos, the back of the car is significantly wider than the front.  This Turbo look defines the Porsche 911 since the launch of this model in 1974.  And despite this wide rear, the car remains extremely aerodynamic with a mere 0.31 coefficient of drag.  The magnificent spoiler in the back rises when speed of 120 km/h is reached and goes back down when speed slows to 60 km/h.  The Turbo 997 sports exclusive beautiful 19 inch rims.

Interior:

While the choice of the materials used in the GT3 and GT2 is first and foremost dictated by racing nature of these beasts, namely, alcantara for the steering wheel, seats and shift knob for better grip, the 911 Turbo must provide maximum comfort in addition to exceptional performance.  As such, the alcantara is replaced by leather which is used to cover the console, the steering wheel, the seats, the shift knob, etc. Additionally, the most recent Porsche Turbo now include the new touch screen Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and navigation (GPS) systems standard.  The climate control with carbon filter is entirely automated so that you can totally concentrate on driving and enjoy every minute of it.

Variants and engines offered during generation :

2007-2009 : H6 twin-turbo, 3.6 L, 480 hp / 460 lb-ft

2010- :  H6 twin-turbo, 3.8 L, 500 hp / 481 lb-ft
