The Corvette Z06 offers an almost unbeatable performance/price ratio.  Just like the basic C6 Corvette, its motor is a large, sweet sounding V8.  But here the V8 christened LS7 has been expanded to 7 liters which allows the vehicle to cross the impressive 500 horsepower threshold (505 to be precise).  This prodigious power is available for around $94,000 which can be considered a bargain when compared to similarly powerful rivals.  To further confirm this, use the “ Advanced search” of CarPassion.ca and select  “500 horsepower and more” as a parameter under “Power of motor”.  While less radical than the Corvette ZR1, the Z06 remains a beacon of power which can carry you on everyday outings (as long as you have only one passenger!) as well as give you the thrills of closed circuit racing.  One can go from 0 to 100 in a mere 4.5 seconds.

In terms of bodywork, the Z06 is barely different from the basic Corvette “C6”;  additional vents on the hood and by the rear wheels on the sides, exclusive rims but of the same size (19 inch in rear and 18 inch in front), Z06 “tags” and carbon fiber front skirt only (whereas the ZR1 also sports lateral skirts in carbon fiber).  Because of its more sporty vocation, the Z06 is only available in coupe while the basic “C6” Corvette is also available as a convertible.

The head-up display is practical, particularly to keep track of the lateral “Gs” and the speed.  A few Z06 tags have been added to the cabin, namely to the seats and the odometer.  The cabin itself has never been the motivation behind the purchase of a Corvette.  It is usually sub-standard to the outstanding body and amazing power of the car.  In the case of the C6 however, as is the case of the Z06 and ZR1, the cabin is rather successful and appealing.
