The first generation of the TT (2000-2007) seduced many notably thanks to its very successful design as a small sports car and its convertible version. This second generation displays an equally successful but different design, with lines that are tighter and more aggressive. Its dimensions (length, height, and wheel base) have increased slightly and the engines offered are more powerful as well. The basic model is equipped with a 4 cylinder turbo engine with direct fuel injection and producing 200 horsepower (0-100 in 6.3 seconds). A model equipped with a naturally aspirated V6 (that is, non turbo) is commercialized during the first two years of the generation, with the 2.0 T. The 2010 model year marks the arrival of the TTS and concurrently the end of the commercialization of the V6. In fact, the sportier TTS is from now on equipped with a 4 cylinder turbo engine, just like the TT. But the more powerful compressor of the TTS makes it possible to generate 65 additional horsepower (265 versus 200 in the TT 2.0T). Both the TT and the TTS are offered in coupe and convertible configurations.
This second generation of the TT displays tighter and more aggressive lines than the first one. More than ever, the TT asserts itself and assumes a more muscled appearance while becoming more masculine. Thanks to its dimensions which remain moderate (despite being slightly higher than the first generation), the TT 2008- is very successful in the convertible version, aptly retaining its sporty character.
The cabin is well suited to the car : once inside, everything is within reach and the atmosphere is both sporty and elegant. Understandably, space is rather limited, particularly in the back where it is preferable to stick to very short rides.
