Indépendant - Aston Martin

Aston Martin began in 1913.  The name Aston Martin comes from the combination of the founder’s name, Lionel Martin, and the name of a race he won, Aston Clinton. The first Aston Martin car was intended to compete with Bugatti.  Starting in 1974, the Aston Martin cars are prominently showcased in the James Bond movies (10 films in total).  Ford becomes majority shareholder of the brand in 1987and then sole owner starting in 1993.  However, Aston Martin is sold in 2007 when Ford faces financial difficulties.  It is now owned by a consortium led by David Richards.  The Aston Martin slogan is “Power, Beauty and Soul” which describe well the assets of the brand which favors elegance, distinction and luxury over pure athletic performance.
