The Infiniti brand was created by Nissan in 1989 in an effort to penetrate the luxury car market in the United States.  This strategy was essentially identical to the one recently embraced by Nissan’s Japanese competitors namely Toyota (who created its luxury brand Lexus in 1987) and Honda (who created its luxury brand Acura in 1986).  After the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, Russia and China, Infiniti lands in Europe starting at the end of 2008.  The most popular models of Infiniti are the "G" cars (G35/G37) and the "FX" SUVs (FX35/FX45).
