Groupe Porsche SE - Porsche - 911 Turbo

The first 911 Turbo was launched by Porsche in 1974.  Right away, it sported wider wings, a face bar and a large rear spoiler.  These elements were not strictly aesthetic,  they stabilized this 260 horsepower machine which could reach 0-100 in 5.5 seconds.  The 3 liter Porsche engine could reach torque of 343 lb-ft with a special gearbox and reinforced gears.  This was the beginning of the Porsche Turbo history and it was soon to become legendary.  Today, the 911 Turbo of the generation 997 (since 2007) reaches new limits : monstrous power of 480 horsepower and a 0-100 in barely 3.7 seconds (3.9 with the manual transmission).
