The SL-Class roadster has been commercialized by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. Its name means "Sport Light" which is ironic today considering the large weight of each version offered within the current generation (SL 2002-), namely approximately 2 tons. This is because the model has become increasingly luxurious and has sported increasingly more powerful, heavier engines over the years. In fact, the motors of the current SL generation are exclusively V8 and V12 with at least 5 liters. Nevertheless, the SL-Class combines a very successful roadster design with tremendous drivability and comfort.
