The LS, introduced in 1990, reigns at the top of the Lexus hierarchy.  It offers a complete set of equipment and a high level of luxury.  Its direct competitors are primarily the German leaders such as Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.  The LS is offered in "regular" and "limousine" ("L") configurations,  the latter offering more leg room in the back.  A hybrid version is also offered, the LS 600h which combines a large fuel 5.0 liter V8 engine and an electric motor.
