The very first generation of the sedan Q was launched in 1990 by Infiniti.  The commercialization of it was interrupted after its 3rd generation (2002-2006) was pulled from the market.  From 1990 to 2006, the Infiniti Q dominated the luxury sedans offered by this Japanese manufacturer. It was meant to compete with the large luxury sedans like the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class, Acura RL and Lexus LS.
