The Saturn Sky, commercialized since the 2007 model year, was launched one year after its twin, the Pontiac Solstice.  Both vehicles use the same chassis (as does the Opel GT commercialized in Europe, Opel also owned by GM). The design of these cars is deemed very successful and their prices very appealing.  The model which competes directly with the Saturn Sky is the Mazda MX-5.  Production of the Saturn Sky and the Pontiac Solstice was interrupted in the summer of 2009 as the plant where they were both assembled was shut down.
